Les Miserables takes to the stage

A YOUNG CLANE man will showcase his production of ‘Les Miserables School’s Edition’ in The Helix in DCU next week.
Set to take to the stage from 7th – 11th September, 19-year-old Andrew Linnie is hopeful the performance will be a big success.
By the age of 16 he had written and produced his own musical, by 17 he had picked up a nomination of Best Male Singer at the annual Association of Irish Musical Societies awards, and later that year, he set up his own theatre company, REAL Theatre Company, with the help of three friends.
Having met Lucy O’Byrne from Dublin during rehearsals for Thoroughly Modern Millie in Clane Musical Society, both discovered a mutual love and infatuation with Cameron Mackintosh’s smash hit ‘Les Miserables’ which led them to the idea of producing the school’s edition so they could play the iconic roles of Eponine and Enjrolas. They approached Lucy’s sister, Rachel, who is in her final year of studying theatre and French in Trinity College Dublin, to be the director, and the trio added long-term friend Eamonn Crowe to the group as production manager. Taking the first initial from each of their names, REAL Theatre Company was born.
Tickets are now on sale for the show.
