A SERIES OF crashes on Kildare roads has caused Kildare Road Safety Officer to warn drivers to take care on the roads.
Last week, two men in their 40s and 50s tragically lost their lives in a crash at Lally’s Cross, Ballinakill, Broadford. The three occupants of the other car – a man, a woman and a one year old child were taken to Tallaght hospital where their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Since Monday, 16th last, crashes have occurred on roads stretching from the M7/M9 Motorway, Ardclough, Celbridge, Carbury, Mylerstown, Kilmeague, Ballinakill, Broadford and at Kilgowan, on the old N9.
On Wednesday a crash at Mylerstown, Kilmeague left three people hospitalised, while on Monday, 16th, a three vehicle collision at the junction of the M7/M9 left three people seriously injured. On Saturday, 21st, a number of people were hospitalised, including young children following a two car collision at Kilgowan on the old N9, Kilcullen to Carlow road.
Mr Keogh remarked that August is the busiest and unfortunately the most tragic months on the roads. “While all collisions are currently under investigation by the gardai, with eight fatalities on Kildare roads so far this year, I would again appeal to people who use the roads, to be alert, cautions, courteous but above all, be aware and mindful of the dangers on the roads.”
