“Frenzied attack”

A “FRENZIED attack” took place in the forecourt of a popular service station on Monday evening (25th Jan), leaving a man critically ill in hospital.
Believed to have been a dispute over money, the two Polish man met on the forecourt of Tougher’s Service Station, Newhall, Naas and in what gardai describe as less than a minute, one had produce a “substantial” kitchen knife.
The man was stabbed “a number of time” in the upper body and leg.
The victim, in his late 20s was rushed to Naas General Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. In the Intensive Care Unit at present, the man is said to be in a “critical” condition (at time of going to print).
Shocked onlookers were unsure of what had happened, though the area was quickly cleared as emergency services arrived within minutes. A shocked staff member remarked: “There has never been anything like this here before.”
Following the incident the forecourt was cordoned off by gardai from approx. 4.45pm – 8.45pm.
A man was arrested and is currently detained at Naas Garda Station. The man is in his late 20s and had been living in the Newbridge area. The victim is believed to be living locally also.
Gardai have ruled out any gang related links to the incident.
