Five arrested in food factory sting operation

FIVE men were arrested on Saturday night (November 28th) after Gardai foiled a raid on a food distribution factory in Athy.
Gardai had witnessed suspicious activity in the vicinity of the Evergreen Foods factory located at Woodstock South in Athy, before quickly launching a Garda Operation at approx 11pm.
Gardai swooped to find considerable damage sustained to the factory and a substantial amount of perishable goods allegedly in the process of being stolen from the premises.
Five men, all of Asian descent, were arrested at the scene and remanded in custody at various Garda stations around the county.
The five appeared in Naas District Court on Monday (November 30th) where they were charged in relation to it.
All five have been remanded in custody and are due back in court later this week, meanwhile a file is being prepared and sent to the DPP.
