MILLTOWN Foróige Club are still on a high this week as their club was honoured at the permanent tsb Foróige Youth Citizenship Awards, which were held in the Helix in Dublin recently.
The young active citizens from Milltown were among 18 groups from 154 entries who were chosen to receive these awards for their hard work and commitment to community involvement. This out-of-school programme is aimed at educating young people about the value of their community and how they can contribute by becoming active citizens.
Milltown Foróige group undertook a fitness project for children with special needs. The programme called Jumping Jellybeans, matched members of the club with young people with special needs, who met on a weekly basis. The exercise helped improve the fitness and coordination of the children, and taught the club members the value of helping out in their community.
The club will celebrate their win on home turf this Friday night in Milltown GAA Hall.
