Heartless thieves broke into the cars of mourners at a graveyard in Monasterevin last week, where a funeral was taking place.
The opportunistic criminals waited until the unsuspecting car owners were paying their last respects at the Kill Hill cemetery on the Athy Road before smashing the windows of two vehicles and taking off with cash, mobile phones, a handbag and other personal items.
Monasterevin Gardai said the act on Thursday last between the hours of 12 and 1pm was both “shocking” and “disrespectful” to the mourners and the family of the deceased.
Gardai are appealing to anyone with information to contact the Monasterevin station at 045 525 322.
