MOTORISTS across the county are being urged to take care on the roads following a fatal car collision in Leixlip at the weekend.
Peter Braun (26) was killed instantly in the three car collision at Pike Bridge on the main Maynooth to Leixlip Road, R148, on Saturday morning at around 7am.
Mr Braun, who was living in Maynooth but believed to be a foreign national, was the only occupant of the vehicle.
The two male drivers of the other vehicles were taken to James Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown to be treated for their injuries. which are not believed to be life threatening.
Motorists were diverted from the route at the weekend as the road was closed for Garda forensic collision investigation.
Meanwhile, Gardai in Newbridge are warning drivers to be more mindful of road conditions after another three car collision in the town on Sunday afternoon.
One driver suffered minor injuries in the collision on the Athgarvan road at 1pm.
Gardai said this week’s heat wave make cause motorists to lapse in concentration. If you are feeling sleepy or dehydrated, pull over at a safe place on the road for a rest and a drink of water, advise Gardai.
Dry, sunny weather may create visibility difficulties, particularly at dawn and dusk while rain after several dry days can make road surfaces very slippy.
