There appears to be no sign of a downturn in Kildare, with the launch of a €50 million shopping centre project last week.

EU Commissioner Charlie McCreevy officially opened the Marketing Suite of the centre in Naas.

The centre, which is due for completion in late 2009, will see a range of high street shops, boutiques, restaurants and bars and will have 800 car parking spaces.

Liam O’Farrell, Managing Director of developers, Marshalsea Property Company said: “Work is progressing very well. We have had excellent support form Naas town and its councillors for which we are very grateful. We have had a great response from retailers and are currently in negotiations on a number of deals. The retailers are particularly impressed with the central location of the scheme in this busy town with a major catchment population.”
