AC/DC to play Punchestown

Punchestown is set to draw crowds of up to 70,000 with AC/DC confirmed to play there this summer.

The metal rockers are to include the Kildare venue in their tour on 28 June, and also have dates in Wembley Stadium and Hampden Park.

Having release ‘Black Ice’ album in September, the first in eight years, fans are lining up for tickets for the legendary group. The album went to no.1 on release in 29 countries including here.

Tickets which go on sale tomorrow, Thursday, December 18 at 8am and are set to sell at €76.50 from ticketmaster.

Many fans are breathing a sigh of relief as their O2 gig on 18 April sold out in just three minutes.

The Australian band formed in Sydney in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. It underwent several line-up changes before releasing their first album High Voltage in 1975.

The group has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide, including 71 million albums in the US, while the album Back in Black sold an estimated 42 million units worldwide.
