Kildare senior boss Kieran McGeeney will this weekend run the eye over a host of pretenders hoping to earn a Lilywhite jersey for next season.

The first of several trial challenge games will take place at noon this Saturday in St Conleth’s Park, with the Kildare management team hopeful they can discover some additional talent to add to the current squad.

Two teams have been picked based on performances in this year’s recently finished Kildare club championships.

McGeeney and his selectors Niall Carew and Paul Grimley will be keeping a keen eye on the action on Saturday, alongside former Kildare selector John Blessing, who is helping with the trial games.

Moorefield’s talented corner-back Padriag O’Flynn and Allenwood’s Tom Byrne will miss out on the games due to college commitments.

It has also been decided that none of the players likely to be part of the Kildare U-21 panel early next year will be involved.
