The community of Narraghmore, Athy was thrown into mourning last week after a young woman drown tragically while on holiday in Australia.
Niamh Conlon (29) had just arrived in Oz when the terrible incident took place. Holidaying in Cairns, Niamh was staying at the Figtree Lodge where she sadly lost her life in the hotel swimming pool.
Speaking to the Kildare Post, a member of her family said: “She was so excited about the holiday, she arrived early at the airport and got on an earlier flight to London. She couldn’t wait to go.”
The family “got a call from her at 2.30am in the morning. She was so excited, she had rang to say she had arrived safely…she had been planning it for a year.”
