A Newbridge heroin addict, who was found in possession of tinfoil and a small quantity of the drug, wants to change his ways for the sake of his children, a district court judge was told.

Brian Higgins (30) of 2141 Highfield Estate, Newbridge was stopped by Sergeant Niall Daly on 27 April 2007 in possession of the drug.  Solicitor  for Higgins, David Gibbons told the court that his client was a ‘known drug user’ but that he intended to mend his ways.

“He is attending a doctor and on a course of tablets. He has his mind set on dealing with his addiction. He has two children who he has limited access to and he wants to be a bigger part in their lives,” he said.

Judge David Anderson adjourned the case against him until 10 April to allow for the preparation of a Probation Report.

“The probation services may be able to assist him,” Judge Anderson stated.
