Rock and Roll babe for Leith

Posted online: Jun 6th, 2007

He was born to be a rock and roll star. Young Jagger Ramone Leith arrived to proud parents Australian Idol Damien and wife Eileen last Wednesday, 30 May.
Yet according to proud granny Angela Leith, the newest arrival to the Leith family wasn’t named after the Rolling Stones frontman, but after another friend in Australia. Jagger is a little brother for toddler Jarvis.
The name of the tot was meant to be kept top secret as the Leiths have a photo deal with an Australian magazine, but was leaked to the press last weekend.
The release of the Milltown man’s new single – the first from his new solo album – had been steam ahead for the release of the Kildare Idol’s first original efforts.
The single, 22 Steps, will hit radios in Australia on 14 June, and Damien’s debut solo album will follow shortly after.
According to Angela, he is currently in Brisbane shooting the video for the single. There are also plans to release the material in Ireland, and Damien is tipped to return to Ireland in September for a homecoming.
The CD/DVD of his Australian Idol victory, The Winner’s Journey, has gone four times platinum in Australia.
The budding author has also signed a deal with Harper Collins in Australia to publish his debut novel this October, a project he had been working on since before winning Australian Idol last November.
