Full of rubbish

People renting houses in Naas have been accused of dumping their household rubbish on the streets of the town.
According to Town Councillor and Tidy Town’s Chairman, Seamie Moore, some tenants are refusing to fork out money for a refuse bin and are using the town as a dumping ground.
Naas Tidy Towns committee has cleaned up three sites already, he explained.
“We had a problem behind the Artisans Cotteges. Several lorry loads of rubbish and building materials were taken out of it with the help of the council,” said Cllr Moore.
“There is quite a number of houses in Naas where refuse bins do not seem to be bought by the owner who lives in the house.
Residents may not be the person who owns the house in these cases but tenants may be responsible.”
Rubbish was also removed from Sarto Road, Our Lady’s Place and the committee is also targeting the Harbour area, he continued.
Waterways Ireland recently removed three lorry loads of waste from the water. The Alley area was also targeted for a clean up.
Cllr Moore added “it’s a disgrace and we’re extremely disappointed by it. But, we’re fighting back and we’re going to reclaim our town.”
